4.2.3 Avatar Question

Question: 

Greetings. I am currently configuring the Avatar section of the Profile and the book recommends to set the default list value to 'invisible'.
Do you mean set the List Field to 'disabled', as there does not seem to be any field settings that say 'invisible'? Also, there do not seem to be any settings that say 'List Value'? I am using Drupal 6.17, CCK 2.7 and Image Field 3.7.
