comments appear on admin profile but not users

Question:

I have comments enabled, permission for anonymous/and authenticated to access and post comments.

I go to /admin/content/node-type/profile and edit the profile content type. set comment default to read/write. Save.

Still, my users do not have comments enabled. I have to edit each user's profile to get comments to appear.

Even still, my admin account has comments enabled. Strange.

So it seems as if my user accounts are somehow overriding the default comment setting from the profile content type setting with its own setting which is 'disabled'.

Any ideas as to why I'm having this problem?

Thanks,

Elliott

That's very strange.

Does this also happen with new profiles (after you changed the setting on the profile content type?)

Yes it does. For new profiles as well.

I spent all day today RE-building the site from scratch all the way up to page 38 again.

Still.

No comments on user profile pages except admin.

I thought it was my permissions at first but i enabled everything possible and still, no comments.

In the Panel content, I set up comments for the default, then the node ID (which is the correct one) and both... still nothing.

Like I might have mentioned before, I went into admin ctrl panel, edited the user and saw that the comments were turned off... but the default is read/write.

Any ideas?

3rd time rebuilding my site up to page 30 (Profile Fields). Same problem.

I wonder if it's because I'm running drupal on a local machine with NO email server installed (WAMP web server on WinXP Home)? That's the only difference I can see between my setup and the setup many of you have.

Hi,

I don't use any bugfix on this site. The problem started occuring after updating some modules.

Users can enable the comments on their profile page, that's why some users do have the wall and others not. I'm just waiting for the next content profile release.
