Google API key and domains

Question: 

Does the key work in a subdomain? My hosting service lies in a subdomain (username.hosting.com). I got a key from google to use the API but it keeps saying that "The Google Maps API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site". Any ideas?

in the google page it says " My web site URL:" and there I enter hxxp://mysubdomain.hosting.net . I even tried hxxp://mysubdomain.hosting.net/outgunned where the current testing drupal installation lies and even though it generates another key , still I get the same error message.

I needed a good excuse to go to Hotdrupal hosting! I will try from there!

probably domain issue , Hotdrupal is lightning fast also!
