Image Question, Re: Ultimate Community Site Guide

Question: 

I am still having trouble finding a content type "image" without installing the module "image" (I have Imageapi, Imagecache, and Imagefield installed as described). (In regards to page 45 of Ultimate Community Site Guide). Is the "image" type the same as the "file" type with operations "image" ?

Do we need to install the image module?

No image module needed.
