Profile Panel not there, but created...

Hey, I have seen other similiar threads but none of the answers from anybody did anything for me.

I have followed the book to the tee, I have created my Profile panel and it should be working, but when i go to view a profile, nothing comes up, its the regular old profile that was always there before, not the new panel one that i created.

My users are at url:
http://hikerscircle.com/users/alex-briner

I changed all my permissions for authenticated and anon users so that should be fine as well but what am i missing?

It just goes to the first post I made on the website. I made a few test blog posts and it goes to the first one. if i go to node/2 it goes to the second post

so i can see the profile when i do that. but the real problem is that we want that profile panel to replace the regular profile page and it is not (or does that come later in the book?).

I want the profile panel to come up when I click on a users name, not the old profile setup.
