Setting avatar problem encountered (ebook)

Question: 

Hi,

I'm not sure which step that i did wrong, but i stuck on step 9 "If users cannot upload an avatar,let's display default avatar".
I do not know where to input "<?phpecho;?"
Is step 9 is the continue from step 8 where there will be a form appear on step for use to input the php code?
next is on step 9.d, instead of "(field_avatar_id)File: File ID not empty", i get "(Avatar)File: File ID". Will this cause a problem? what did i done wrong, and how to do it right?

You can test this if there is no avatar present. Does the empty text display?
