Some users here on drupalfun don't have comments turned on
As I was trying to figure out why my users don't have comments enabled on their profile, I also see that drupalfun doesn't have comments on profiles either...
For instance, go to 'Find Members' and go to page 8 (or locate the user 'Hajduk') and you will see that all the users created before Hajduk, have comments.. (i.e. Hadjuk, dorax, Solarflare) BUT
The users created after Hadjuk, do not have comments enabled.
Did you use a different module/set of modules after Hajduk was created?

2. Yes, comments seem to work
Yes, comments seem to work fine and pick up the default from the other content types. It's just the profile content type comment default is not being read by the profiles themselves.
Do you remember what changed when the user Hadjuk was created? Maybe some earlier versions of other modules perhaps?
Does that mean that we need to use the previous content profile module (http://drupal.org/node/272864 - 6.x-1.0-beta2, which was released mid 2008)?
3. Hi, Probably not, I think it
Hi,
Probably not, I think it worked fine for a while with alpha 3. Could it be the cp_registration addon module?
4. Hmmm... not sure. I noticed
Hmmm... not sure. I noticed the beta2 of that module doesn't have the registration addon module.
I see that 6.10 is out now, and it has an updated comment module. Could it perhaps fix our problems? I dunno. What I DO know is, with all the problems I've had up to this point, I'm not so sure I'm ready to take the chance of 'possibly' fixing the comments issue, but blowing something else up down the line when following the book meant for 6.9
Have you installed the latest 6.10?
5. Ok. I went and upgraded to
Ok. I went and upgraded to 6.10. Same problem. No comments for users except admin. And when I go edit the profile for the users, the comments are set to disabled. I enable and it works fine.
Please tell me there's a workaround for this... I'd hate to have to continue to manually update every user.
Maybe I should open a bug against drupal610.
6. It has nothing to do with
It has nothing to do with Drupal itself, but either panels or content profile is my guess.
7. So are you saying that we
So are you saying that we need to install previous versions of content profile?
You already stated previously that panels 6.x-2.0-alpha2 is the version to use, so maybe its content_profile 6.x-1.0-beta2 released in june 2008? I'll give it a try and report my findings.
8. Panels causing the comments issue?
I am having the same issue with the comments not showing up automatically. I have to enable them manually. I have my profile page set up on a panel. I was wondering if Panels is the issue here. Did you try the Beta2 version of panels yet?
9. Cant be content_profile
Cant be content_profile either... no user registration module comes with earlier versions of content_module
any ideas?
10. It is content profile. Please
It is content profile. Please refer to the bug at: http://drupal.org/node/373410

1. That is really
That is really interesting.
The comment form on for instance the showcases works fine, and that is also in a panel. So are the questions,...
So, that means it should have something to do with content profile. I have last updated content profile on 2009-Jan-07, when it came out, which is not consistent with when it started, which was around end Jan. Hajduk was the first user when the site went live.
When will I start keeping a list with the dates when I updated each module?
It seems we have quite a mystery here...
What other module could cause this?
