User Search and Exposed Filters
Hi Dorien!
I created a user view similar to the one mentioned in section 5.5 of the UCSG. I have cck fields in table format for both the first name and the last name of each user. I added filters with the same fields and exposed the filter. I was then able to create a panels page that has the exposed block at the top with textboxes to enter text for each field exposed and the list of members at the bottom of the region in views. Everything on the page looks great until I actually try the filter. I enter text in the exposed block and hit apply (or return). This results in the homepage loading where my panel page was. How do I get the filters to work so that when I hit apply, the name that was filtered is viewed. Cheers!

2. Thanks for the quick respone!
I wish I could donate more for all the help I got from Drupalfun. The book was better than some of the guides Packt Publishing puts out.
I did see that there was an option in the panels view(Content Pane) to "Use Panel path". Set that to yes. It sounds like that the option allows any link in the panel region to open in the same region. Even set to yes, the exposed filters still directed me back to the homepage. I tried creating a test page where I set up the same exposed block and view without panels. Still, same result. Am I missing something obvious? I'm using panels 3.2 & views 2.8. Thanks again
3. Solved!!!
I looked at it some more. Looks like I had to do 2 things to my panels page to make the filters work.
1. The content pane view with all the users needs to have the views URL overridden. I just entered "%" under override URL for the generic term ID of the filter parameters called. That alone didn't fix it, but...
2. My content (Views Filter Block & Views User View) was all located in the same region of panels. I just separated the regions for the 2 panes, and presto, the filter works!
It is a beautiful thing to see it all work after couple days of banging my head on the desk. Cheers!
5. One of the main annoyances
One of the main annoyances with most implementations of parish and school searching that I've found internet phone service (and I've tested almost every U.S. Archdiocese's website for this functionality) is the fact that searches are extremely rigid - if you don't type in the exact terms for the title of the parish in the parish database, you won't get any results merchant account.
For instance, type in "St. Luke," and you might get a result for St. Luke parish. However, type in "Saint Luke," and you get nothing. Or, what if you type in "Saints Joachim and Anne," but the parish is in the database as "Sts. Joachim & Anne high speed internet service"?
To message search data, we used a few regex filters on the user input, and Drupal allowed us to do this pretty easily by hooking into the exposed form on the parish and school search pages hard drive recovery.

1. Hi, Thanks for your
Hi,
Thanks for your donation!
I have not tried this with a seperate block myself. But I think you can set this in the panel's options. Be sure to insert the view as a panel pane. When you configure this panel pane in there should be an option, that says something like 'override views url'.
Let me know if it works!
