What do I do with the "extra" directories?

Status:
Solved
Question:

I have just downloaded the drupalfun v2.1 website (http://book.drupalfun.com/socialnetwork), and these are the directories I see:

  • all
  • drupalfunv2.1package
  • modules
  • sites
  • user_relationships

Now, when I looked in drupalfunv2.1package, the files had the same structure as my default Drupal site. So, I made this my "drupalfun" Drupal site. But what am I supposed to do with the other directories? There's nothing (that I can see) in the installation instructions.

Maybe it is obvious to Drupal experts, but I'm not a Drupal expert. Yet.

1. Hi, There is just one

Hi,

There is just one directory in the package: drupalfunv2.1package

I guess the others that you see are from you from before.

If you unpack the .tar.gz file and look in the drupalfun directory, you should see a normal drupal structure.

2. Ah, OK

Hi Dorien,

Great, thanks. I suggest you update the package to save confusing other future downloaders.

3. I don't see what I could

I don't see what I could update? The package is packaged like any other Drupal tar.gz

4. There is more than 1 directory

The problem is that there is NOT just one directory in the package (at least not the one I downloaded).

These are the top-level directories I see:
* all
* drupalfunv2.1package
* modules
* sites
* user_relationships

These are the top-level directories I think I should see:
* drupalfunv2.1package

So, throw away the redundant extras. Or explain what to do with them.

Here is what I see in the file:

Seems allright to me... How do you extract it, with which software/system?

6. WinZip 9!

Hi,

I checked my version of WinZip and I was using v9. I've upgraded to the latest version, v14 (!), and now it all unpacks correctly. I suppose it was a feature/bug/backward-compatibility issue.

Thanks,
